ARCS Fellow Nadezhda Savova in the news

Fantastic news regarding one of our Fellows, Nadezhda Savova. Nadezhda, who recently completed a PhD at Princeton University and holds an ARCS Fellowship this spring, has combined her expertise in cultural anthropology, a deep interest in bread-making from the dawn of agriculture to today and her care for disadvantaged people and developed a “therapeutic bakery” in Gabrovo. The bakery employs people who are rarely given opportunities in much of the world – blind, physically challenged, autistic. The employees gain a stipend, but mostly gain pride. The bakery is also used for workshops for children and adults with disabilities, in the manner of “art therapy” sessions. The President of Bulgaria, Rossen Plevneliev visited the Gabrovo bakery on Friday, March 29. We are so proud of Dr. Savova!
