'Border Stories: A Century on Hungarian Frontiers', Drs. Frank and Irene Schubert
Drs. Frank and Irene Schubert will lead a seminar on the topic of 'Border Stories: A Century on Hungarian Frontiers'. The event is free of charge and open to the public. The language of discussion will be English. This seminar will take place at the American Research Center in Sofia, 75 Vasil Petleshkov St., 1510 Sofia.
Dr. Frank Schubert is a graduate of Howard University (B.A., 1965), the University of Wyoming (M.A., 1970), and the University of Toledo (Ph.D., 1977). He worked as a historian in the Department of Defense from 1977 to 2003, and was a Fulbright lecturer at Babes Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania, during 2003-2004. Most of his published work has been on North American frontier exploration, black soldiers in the U.S. Army, and military construction, and he has lectured at universities in Hungary, Romania, Germany, and Serbia. His latest book, "Hungarian Borderlands: from the Habsburg Empire to the Axis Alliance, the Warsaw Pact, and the European Union," was published in 2011.
Dr. Irene Schubert retired from the Library of Congress where she held positions as a reference librarian, reading room manager and department head. She is coauthor, with Frank Schubert, of "On the Trail of the Buffalo Soldier II: New and Revised Biographies of African Americans in the U.S. Army," 1866-1917 (2004).
